Lime mortars have been widely used from the times of Vitruvius until the early 20th century. Raquel Rodríguez spent many years mastering the various application techniques and investigating the original ingredients, formulas and proportions of these historical mortars.
The intricate traditional layer system of these plasters has proven highly adaptable, making it possible to design and combine various technical mortars and applying any of our finishing plasters to fit to the requirements of a wide range of old and modern construction systems and situations.
Artisan Stucco plasters are designed to suit any vertical surface, from cellars to facades, and can adapt to practically any building system. From the masonry mortar and the base renders to the final surface, the entire mortar and plaster system can be designed and adapted to your project's needs.
Artisan Stucco has developed an exquisitely refined waterproof plaster, suitable for the wet parts of your bathroom and shower.
Combining a traditional multi layered fresco plaster with Moroccan tadelakt application techniques, a perfectly straight and smooth, natural glossy surface is created that is easy to maintain and will look as new for many years to come.
Artisan Stucco Waterproof lime plaster is an affordable and beautiful alternative for bathroom tiles and tadelakt. Visit our projects page to see some beautiful examples of waterproof stucco in bathrooms.
Our fresco lime plaster is the original base plaster as used for the famous fresco paintings of the 16th century like those of the Sistine Chapel. This traditional multi layer plastering technique, using only natural ingredients, gives a very refined finish with a high resistance to water and dust and has proven to be extremely durable.
The transparency of the finishing layers adds a spectacular depth to the finish, bringing out the natural flame of the plaster. By using different colours for the final layers, colourful effects can be achieved that resemble marble stone.
The final finish of your plaster is fully customizable. By choosing from a wide variety of natural pigments or coloured sands of different grain sizes, adding glimmering minerals like mica flakes and selecting the required application techniques, we can deliver a plaster to exactly fit to your project in both colour, shine and texture.

By overlaying multiple layers of plaster and precisely carving the top layer of the mortar while it is still soft, a relief image can be created. Once the plaster has dried, the result is a durable drawing made of lime stone.
Over the past decades Raquel Rodrígues has specialized in the classical Renaissance technique of sgraffito. These wall decorations will catch the eye in any surrounding and can be made to your exact specifications or inspired by the artist.

Because we make our lime mortars specifically for your project we can adjust their ingredients as required for your situation.
By partly replacing the traditional aggregates of the mortar with other traditional or modern ingredients like cork, perlite or vegetable fibre, the plaster can be adapted to be lighter in weight, have a higher insulation value, allow for a much higher layer thickness and be designed to resists more weight or be more water resistant.
This makes our mortars ideal for use as a base plaster on masonry walls, straw bale constructions and insulating board systems.
Designing a lime paint for your other walls to exactly match with your Artisan Stucco plasters is also a possibility.
Artisan Stucco lime paints are beautifully matte, resistant to water and naturally textured. They are suitable for stone walls, cement and existing lime and clay renders. Our lime paints will also help to consolidate old and soft or damaged plasters.
Our lime paints are suitable for interior and exterior use.
